The central Greece consists of the prefectures of Fokida, Fthiotida, Viotia and Evoia. There are important beaches, forests, mountains and consists a tourist attraction. 8 of these beaches have been awarded the blue flag. There is also a large number of archaeological monuments, museums, monasteries etc.
The Evritania prefecture is full of forests, ideal for walking, climbing, mountain and river sports like kayak or rafting. You may visit the traditional Karpenisi city and the picturesque ski resort of Velouhi.
The prefecture of Phokida offers its picturesque capital of Amphisa, with the castle of Oria, the byzantine churches and the archaeological museum. Also see the picturesque seaside town of Galaxidi the harbor, and the mansions. Also the coastal town of Itea. Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites of Greece, see the ancient settlement, the Temple of Apollo, the Theatre, Stadium, as well as other findings.
Fthiotida is full of forests with many rivers, caves and beaches. Kamena Vourla is another area with beaches, hot springs and picturesque villages. In Viotia admire the picturesque Arachova, ideal for winter tourism, with traditional houses, rivers and forests. Thebes has numerous attractions like the palace of Cadmus, the archaeological museum, the Christian catacombs and the tower. Evia gathers many tourism due to tourist destinations like Chalkida city with the the bridge that connects mainland Greece with the phenomenon of tides -water flow changes direction every 6 hours-, Karababa Castle, archaeological museum and the Roman aqueduct. In Eretria town apart from the coasts see the ancient temples Eretria of Dionysus, Demeter and Apollo, the Archeological Museum and many other ancient sites. Edipsos is spa center with ancient Roman baths and major tourist attraction.
The average temperatures in central Greece is between 7 degrees Celsius (46F) in January to 27 degrees (81F) during July and August. The summer tourism takes mainly from May to October with peak months in July and August the Winter Tourism takes mainly from November to March.
